Despite triple digit temperatures participants in the annual Missouri River Clean-up collected nearly 5,000 pounds of debris on July 11th from the upper end of Lake Sharpe near Pierre and Fort Pierre. The crews hauled in 3,700 pounds of lumber mainly from docks and decks damaged in the 2011 Missouri River flood. The clean-up also picked up 840 pounds of litter and trash, 150 pounds of tires, and 70 pounds of scrap metal.
